Click here to view a short video demonstrating how to use the Zing it app

Zingit is a mobile app that combines contactless payments and cashback rewards to support local businesses and communities.

Zing Coins are the loyalty points (cashback) that you earn when you make a payment using the Zingit App. One Zing Coin is equivalent to 1c (R0,01 )

Go to your device’s app store and search for the Zingit Community app

  • Zingit is the only loyalty program in South Africa that offers you cashback rewards at multiple local stores.
    • Every Zingit App purchase earns you Zing Coins (cashback), redeemable at any participating store (accepting Zingit as payment method).
    • When you link a bank card that earns you cashback from your bank as a payment method on Zingit, you earn double cashback: the cashback rewards your card offers, as well as the Zing Coins you earn on the Zingit App.
  • The money earned for charity in your community is invested back in your own community.
    • Every Zingit App payment raises funds for local charities in the community where the purchase is made.
  • Zingit users have immediate access to limited time specials in their local community.
    • Zingit makes it possible for local stores to run fast specials via in-App notifications.
  • Zingit is one of the safest ways to make payments.
    • If you opt for our Auto EFT payment method, your card isn’t linked to the app, ruling out the possibility of card fraud. You can read more about our safety features in the Safety and Security section.
  • By using Zingit, you are supporting your local stores and local economy.
  • Zingit offers a digital, contactless (no physical exchange between merchant and consumer) payment option. (Important now given Covid-19)
    • No need to carry your wallet or cards with you, you only need your phone to pay.
    • Convenient and safe, as you don’t have to carry cash or your cards.
  • Simple and user-friendly, a once-off link with your bank account or debit card means no topping up of e-wallets are required.

You can use Zingit to pay at any store that accepts Zingit as a payment method, from physical shops to service providers, market vendors and events. Zingit is a proudly South African community-focused platform, in the process of countrywide establishment.

Use the Store Finder on the Zingit application to find stores in your community or just look out for the Zingit logo displayed at stores accepting Zingit. If your favourite shop doesn’t accept Zingit yet, you can encourage them to sign up!

If your community is not active on Zingit yet, you can contact us to request the planned launch date for your area.

Yes, if the online store has Rebelpay as an option for payment.

Choose Rebelpay as your payment method and log in as a REGISTERED USER, using your mobile phone number and PIN that you used to register on the Zingit app. Follow the online prompts to complete your payment.

Your will earn Zing Coins and the transaction will automatically be added to your TRANSACTION HISTORY in the Zingit app.

No, unfortunately not yet.

  • Tell the store that you want to pay with Zingit and ask them for their QR code.
  • Open the Zingit App and tap on "Scan to Pay".
  • Scan the store’s QR code, enter the amount to pay (and add a tip if applicable).
  • Enter your Zingit App PIN code (this is the PIN code you chose when you registered for the App and not any of your bank PIN codes).
  • Follow the payment prompts on your screen, according to your preferred/selected payment type.
  • If you use Auto EFT as a payment method (depending on your bank’s security measures) you may have to enter an one time pin (OTP), provide USSD approval or approve the transaction within your banking app.
  • The store will receive a notification via SMS or on their point of sale (POS) system to confirm that the payment has been made. You will see a “transaction successful” notification on your phone.

Quick Response (QR) is the swift ability to read square barcodes by a cell phone. The codes are used to transfer a piece of information from a transitory media to your cell phone.

The other key feature of QR codes is that, instead of requiring a chunky hand-held scanner to scan them, modern cell phones can scan them using the camera.

When you use the Zingit App to scan the QR code at a store, the QR code is linked to that specific store’s profile on our system. This information allows the transaction facilitation when you make a payment. Therefore using the Zingit App requires a smartphone with a working camera.

In -app:

On the main screen of the Zingit App, select ‘Find a Store’.

You will be able to view all participating stores in the vicinity of the city or town that you live in. You can type any keyword, such as ‘pizza’ into the search button. The list of all stores that meet your search requirements will be listed.

You are able to search for stores in another city or town by entering that city or town name into the search bar.

To use the Zingit App you will need:

  • A smartphone device with a working camera, connected to the internet and able to download apps from the Google Play Store (Android devices) or the Apple App Store (Apple devices.
  • An online banking portfolio with Absa, Capitec, FNB, Nedbank or Standard Bank to make EFT payments OR a Mastercard/Visa debit card with 3D secure enabled.

Zingit is available for Android and Apple iPhones and does not support other types of phones using different operating systems.

Zingit is free to download and use.

There is a once-off fee of R1 each time you set up a new payment type. The reason for this is that we have to authenticate your payment type.

Network operator data charges apply. The Zingit app is less than 10MB when you download it the first time and transactions use very little data.

Your bank may or may not charge you a transaction fee for your EFT or debit card transaction. This depends on your account type and your banking price plan at your bank. To be safe, check with your bank what they charge you, if anything, for EFT and card transactions.

Go to your phone’s app store and search for the Zingit Community app or visit our home page for links to the Apple App and Google Play Store.

The Zingit app will work on all Android and Apple devices, as well as Huawei (and other) devices with access to Google Support and Google Play Store.

The Zingit App is less than a 10MB and transactions use very little data.

You can update your personal details in the app by navigating to: Menu > My account > Edit my account. From here you can select the information you need to update by clicking on that specific information.

You can change your personal identification number (PIN) in the app by navigating to: Menu > My account > Change PIN code.

You can change your location in the Zingit App by navigating to: Menu > My account > My Community.

You can update your payment methods in the App by navigating to: Menu > My account > Payment methods. Here you can add a payment method by clicking on the + sign. You can delete a payment method by clicking on the bin icon to the right.

Remember that a once-off fee of R1.00 is charged for every payment method you add. This is to verify the payment type.

Yes, you can either link the same internet banking profile or the same debit card to more than one Zingit profile.

No, unfortunately not.

Yes, you can. You can log into the Zingit App on different devices with the same username and PIN that you used during your first registration.

Zingit uses very little data to make a payment, but without internet access it’s not possible to pay. You can make use of an available Wi-Fi network or mobile data.

Zingit uses your phone’s camera to scan the QR code (square barcode) displayed at a specific store to facilitate the transaction. Without a working camera you will unfortunately not be able to use Zingit to make a payment.

If you get a new phone, delete the Zingit Community App from your old phone and then download it onto your new phone. Simply log in to the Zingit Community App with the mobile phone number and PIN number that you used to register for Zingit the first time. All your linked payment methods, transaction history etc. will automatically be set up and you do not need to create it up again. You will not lose your accumulated Zing Coins either.

Click on the three lines displayed in the top left corner of the Zingit App. Your menu will slide open from the left hand side.

Yes! When the store has specials/promotions for a specific time period available through the Zingit App, you will be able to view these by clicking on the envelope icon in the top right corner of your screen. Alternatively, go to Menu > Announcements to view specials and promotions.

When you select the 'Menu’ bar, the ‘Log out’ option is displayed.

Send us an email to support@zingit.co.za with your mobile phone number.

Zingit App facilitates live (in the moment) transactions and cannot function offline. Make sure you have at least 10MB data available, that your mobile data connection is active or that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network when attempting instant payment. Zingit uses very little data to pay or redeem rewards.

When a user's phone is rooted, it effectively allows that user to obtain privileged control over sub systems on their phone and make all kinds of changes to that phone, including modifying settings or system applications, effectively overriding security systems put in place on the phone. Zingit’s first priority is safety, thus it is too risky to use the Zingit Community App on rooted devices. No exception for individual users is allowed.

Send an email to lock@zingit.co.za with your mobile phone number, name and surname. Your account will be suspended on our servers.

Due to Zingit’s great security features, it will be very difficult for an unauthorised person to use the Zingit App on your phone for payments. Apart from having to be able to unlock your phone and bypass your phone’s security protocols, access to your Zingit App PIN will be needed to be able to make any purchases. So, unless you have provided your phone unlock password and Zingit App PIN to an unauthorised person, it will be impossible for them to make a purchase using the Zingit App.

You can update your payment methods in the Zingit App by navigating to: Menu > My account > Payment methods. Here you can add a payment method by clicking on the + sign. You can delete a payment method by clicking on the bin icon to the right.

Please note that a R1,00 fee is charged every time you add a new payment method. This is to verify the payment method.

You don’t need to. We automatically send proof of payment to the store but you can show the store clerk the “Successful Payment” screen on your Zingit App if you want to.

No, there is only a R1.00 authentication fee to verify a new payment method.

No

If you pay too little, you simply make an additional payment to make up the full amount. If you pay too much, you need to ask the store to pay you back the excess amount, but how this is done is up to the store’s discretion.

If you simply wish to view your transactions you can navigate to Menu > Transaction history to view your transactions. If this does not resolve your query you can contact us at support@zingit.co.za.

On the Zingit App, go to Menu > Transaction History and click on the specific transaction. You will see a reference number starting with RB followed by numbers. This is the reference number that you will find on your bank statement.

Contact Zingit via email at support@zingit.co.za immediately and explain exactly what happened.

No, unfortunately not.

Yes, you can make payments at online stores that accept Zingit as a payment method.

The transaction will be cancelled and the payment will not be processed.

Yes, you can add unlimited debit cards and online banking profiles to your Zingit account. Navigate to Menu > My Account > Payment methods to add additional payment methods.

Remember, there is a R1.00 authentication fee to verify a new payment method.

If you have linked multiple payment methods (for example a bank account for auto EFT, as well as a debit card) during the payment process, the Zingit App will prompt you to select which payment method you want to use.

You can simply add a new payment method and retain your previous payment method or you can delete your previous payment method and add a new payment method in Menu > My Account > Payment Method.

Remember, there is a R1.00 authentication fee to verify a new payment method.

You can delete a payment method you no longer wish to have associated with your Zingit App by going to Menu > My Account > Payment Methods. A list of all your linked payment methods will be displayed and you can delete any one.

Zingit is currently enabled for auto EFT payments through Absa, Capitec, FNB, Nedbank and Standard Bank. You need to have an online banking profile at one of these banks (preferably a banking app on your smartphone) to add automated EFT (the payment method that earns you the most Zing Coins) as a payment method on your Zingit App.

Zingit’s EFT provider, RebelPay, is currently enabled at the following banks: Absa, Capitec, FNB, Nedbank and Standard Bank.

Linking your online banking to your Zingit App, for an auto EFT as your preferred payment method, earns you the maximum amount of Zing Coins every time you shop. This also earns the maximum amount of money for your local charities. If you bank with a different bank, you can opt to link your bank card to the Zingit app instead.

Zingit does not limit the amount of Auto EFT payments. However, you may have limits on your account set by your bank. Please contact your bank to find out if there are limitations on your account or to make any changes to your current account limits.

Apart from the limits set by your bank, Zingit allows unlimited transcations. Please contact your bank to find out about account limitations or to make any changes to your current account limits. Be mindful of the cost attached.

If you use Auto EFT as payment method, the Zingit App will display the different accounts that you have linked to your banking profile. You can select from which account you want to make the payment.

Yes you can. Navigate to Menu > My Account > Payment methods to add additional banking profiles.

Remember, there is a R1.00 authentication fee to verify a new payment method.

Any Mastercard or Visa debit card can be linked to your Zingit account from any issuing South African bank, provided the card is 3D secure enabled and can be used to make online payments.

3D Secure is a technical standard created by Visa and MasterCard to further secure CNP (Card holder Not Present) transactions over the Internet. 3D Secure protects a buyer's card against unauthorised use when shopping online.

Please contact your bank to enable 3D Secure on your card.

When your card expires, it will no longer work as a payment method on the Zingit App and you can delete this payment method. You will need to have a new card issued to you by your bank. Your new card will have a new card number and CCV code on the back. Once you have your new card, you can add this as a payment method on the Zingit App, so that you can use it again.

If the card expires but you chose the EFT payment option, an expired card has no influence on your payment and you can continue to use this account to make payments. The EFT feature on Zingit does not work with your card but with a direct EFT transfer from you internet banking. This is just another reason to use the auto EFT option to pay!

Remember, there is a R1.00 authentication fee to verify a new payment method.

Navigate to Menu > My Account > Payment methods on the Zingit App and delete the bank card that you are no longer using. Add a new payment method and follow the prompts, entering the details on your new card.

Remember, there is a R1.00 authentication fee to verify a new payment method.

Unfortunately you cannot link an international card to your Zingit account. We support all South African bank accounts to process debit cards.

The Zingit app is compatible with any 3D Secure Mastercard or Visa debit card. 3D secure allows you to make Card Not Present (CNP) transactions such as online purchases. Check in with your bank about their debit card policy pertaining online payments. Not all banks activate debit cards for online purchases but you can usually ask to have it enabled. Your card details will only be loaded and saved once verified by the Zingit App as an authorised payment method. You will receive a notification of error if the card is not a viable payment method before attempting a payment.

Yes, you can link as many cards as you like to your Zingit profile. A once-off authentication fee of R1.00 per card loaded applies for verification purposes.

Zingit has gone to great lengths to ensure complete safety. Your personal data is not stored on your phone but in high security servers in encrypted format.

For security purposes, Zingit uses specialized third party payment processors to facilitate payments on the App.

For EFT payments, Zingit uses RebelPay to process the payment.

For card payments, Zingit uses AddPay to process the payment.

When you make a payment with Zingit, you do so by scanning the QR code at the store of the merchant you would like/have to pay. This QR code gives Zingit the information it needs to process the transaction. You scan this code with your phone’s camera. Zingit will therefore not work without access to your phone’s camera.

The only time Zingit will access your camera is when given permission by tapping “Scan to Pay” on the home screen of the Zingit app to pay. The feature only looks for and recognises the QR code (square barcode) and we do not use, store or process any other data or images while the camera is active in the Zingit App.

Every time you make a purchase with Zingit, you earn Zing Coins! We also make a donation to charity causes in your community.

Zingit is more convenient than using your bank card. When you use the auto EFT payment solution, Zingit makes a secure transfer directly from you online banking profile. When your debit card details is loaded on the Zingit App as a payment method, you make a Card Not Present purchase with your card. So you can keep your bank card safely in your wallet or even at home, decreasing chances of a lost, stolen or skimmed card.

Nobody, not even Zingit, has access to your personal banking details. Zingit has access to your:

  • Name and surname
  • Mobile phone number
  • Email address
  • Zingit transaction details, including payment method but excluding your bank card or EFT login details.

Zingit shares the above mentioned information with our third party payment providers strictly for the purposes of processing a transaction.

No, only you can verify a payment with your PIN. Stores do not have access to your banking profile, card or banking details when you use Zingit.

After each successful payment, you will automatically see a summary of the transaction, including the amount that was paid. Zingit keeps a record of all your transactions, which you can view at Menu > Transaction History on your Zingit app.

Choose a unique four digit PIN for your Zingit app payments to keep your transactions secure. Using the same PIN as for your bank card will put your security at risk, especially if your phone is stolen and access is gained to your bank account.

Choose any four numbers, different from your phone unlock PIN and any PINs that you use for any banking uses, such as your bank card PIN. This will increase security.

You will have to log out of the Zingit App and then use the login function to enter your mobile phone number. Then, select the “Forgot PIN” function. You will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your PIN.

Send us an email to support@zingit.co.za with your mobile phone number.

Zing Coins are the loyalty points (cashback) that you earn when you make a payment using the Zingit App. One Zing Coin is equivalent to 1c or R0.01.

Zing Coins are earned when you use your Zingit app to pay for items or services at any store that accepts Zingit as a payment method.

Your Zing Coin balance is displayed on the Home (Pay Now) screen of the Zingit app.

Yes, go to Menu > Transaction History and click on a transaction to view the Zing Coins that you earned on that specific transaction.

Yes, go to Menu > Transaction History and click on a transaction to view the Zing Coins that you redeemed on that specific transaction.

The amount of Zing Coins you earn is calculated as a percentage of the amount that you spend using the Zingit app. This calculation depends on two factors:

  1. The payment type

Transaction processing fees charged by banks differ between payment types. The higher the fee that a bank charges on a payment type, the less Zing Coins you will earn and vice versa.

You will earn the most Zing Coins when you use auto EFT as a payment type. You will earn much less when you use a debit card as payment type.

  2. The store

Zing Coins earning percentages may differ from store to store, depending on the size of the store and the type of products that the store sells. Normally, big retail stores follow a high turnover / low profit model and are much more price sensitive, meaning that the cashback could be less. Other types of stores / businesses operate on higher profit business models and the cashback could be more.

Unfortunately this insight is not available upfront at this stage. However, you will be able to see how much you have earned on each transaction by navigating to Menu > Transaction history and clicking on the specific transaction. As a rule of thumb you will earn much more Zing Coins by using EFT as your payment type and shopping at smaller stores.

YYou can use your Zing Coins to make purchases at any of the participating stores.

Yes, you have to accumulate a balance of 5 000 Zing Coins (R50) before you can spend it.

Once you have accumulated the minimum balance of 5 000 Zing Coins (R50), and you have enough Zing Coins to pay for the transaction, the Zingit App will automatically give you the option to pay using Zing Coins. This option will be displayed when you make a purchase where the Rand value of your Zing Coins is higher than the transaction amount.

Unfortunately not. The Rand value of your Zing Coins balance has to be higher than the transaction amount in order to pay with Zing Coins.

No-no, you only get what you give!

No, you cannot transfer your Zing Coins to another user at this stage.

No, unfortunately not.

No, unfortunately not.

Unfortunately we delete all your information from our servers when your account is deleted and your Zing Coin balance will be lost.

No, Zing Coins do not expire as long as you use the Zingit app. You can save them up to spoil yourself at a later date!

If you do not use the app to make a purchase for 12 months, your Zing Coins will be forfeited.

Yes! You still receive points for making payments on your card. However, your card will be charged by Zingit, so you will not be able to earn special points at specific stores (e.g. additional UCount at Incredible Connection).

    • Each transaction has a unique transaction reference number, which you can use to query a transaction at storesupport@zingit.co.za.
    • If you decide to trust the customer’s Zingit App notification of successful payment, you can check the following:
      • Your business name should appear on the ‘Succesful payment’ screen.
      • Make sure the correct amount is displayed.
      • The date of the transaction should be correct.
      • You can write down the transaction reference number, starting wit ‘RB-’ so that you can query the transaction, if necessary.
      • The notification should be on the interface of the Zingit App, not a screenshot or photo of the ‘Successful payment’ screen.
      • You could also check / ask if they have received a notification from the bank, though it could vary depending on their personal online banking settings.
      • Be vigilant!

Once a user has the minimum amount of Zing Coins (5 000 Zing Coins, equivalent to R50) the App will automatically give them the option to use their Zing Coins to pay. If a customer pays you with Zing Coins, settlement will occur as normal.

Yes, it is possible. Please contact us at storesupport@zingit.co.za.

Zingit settles transactions on a weekly basis, rather than individually. We provide you with a report every week, listing the transactions that have been settled.

    Contact storesupport@zingit.co.za for process facilitation.

Send an email to specials@zingit.co.za for a step by step guide through the process.

As a standard, Zingit allows one message per store, per month.

As a Zingit merchant you will receive a monthly report that includes:

    • Total number of Zingit users in your community
    • Total spend of Zingit users in your community.
    • Number of Zingit merchants in your community.
    • Total spend of Zingit users at your shop broken up into payment types (EFT, card payments and Zing Coin redemptions)
    • Total cashback accumulated by the community.
    • Total amount donated to charity by the community.
    • Amount donated to charity by users in your store (your store’s contribution to charity)
    • Full breakdown of the month’s transactions

Zingit does not directly donate money to charities. Instead, money raised in a community for charity is transferred to Zingit’s sister social enterprise Manna Tribe, an independent non-profit company. Manna Tribe carries the mandate of investing money collected for a specific community back into that community by supporting a local charity.

You can contact Manna Tribe directly at newcharity@mannatribe.org
